Mayfield Local Historical Society

The MAYFIELD LOCAL HISTORY SOCIETY was founded in 1975 to encourage interest in the history of Mayfield and the adjoining district.

The Society has recently published a completely updated short historic GUIDE to Mayfield past and present, including the invaluable Mayfield Directory to local organisations and services. It is available locally @ £3.50 per copy

A small local history and archive collection is also maintained.

The main activity of the Society is the holding of a number of talks during the Winter months. These talks are on topics relating to the historical tapestry of people, events and buildings in the South East, especially in East Sussex

Annual membership for theseason, which covers admission to all the monthly talks, is £5.00.
Non members may attend individual talks at a cost of £2.00 per talk.

Details of all the Society’s activities are announced each month in the Mayfield & Five Ashes Newsletter (Yellow Pages).
They are also mentioned in the Community Life section of the Kent & Sussex Courier newspaper.
